PATRICK DIX FOR SCHOOL BOARD
My wife, Sally, and I are proud parents of two Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) students. We've lived in Des Moines for more than 20 years, having moved here from Chicago. While we initially didn't plan to stay, we've been presented with incredible opportunities in Des Moines and are proud to call Iowa our home.
I am a member of the central Iowa business community, working in the field of financial technology. My professional background includes a broadcast journalism career, with 16 years spent as the morning news anchor for WHO 13 News.
The idea of getting involved with the Des Moines School Board has been on my mind for quite some time. It was only during the challenges posed by COVID that this idea evolved into a serious consideration. Similar to many families, I observed instances where the District's leadership overlooked chances to address complex issues through collaborative and innovative approaches. DMPS faces substantial and intricate challenges daily. My dedication is focused on bringing a positive, creative, and solutions-oriented perspective to the School Board.
